Taylor

Taylor Swift has become a rare pop phenomenon: A pop star that has crossed the line completely from country music to pop culture, becoming a pop icon that is enduring and has captured the hearts of millions across the world. Swift removed herself from the music of country as a separate layer, showing herself to be the most savvy pop singer/songwriter that her generation has ever seen. She managed to draw inspiration from the zeitgeist of today and transform it into her individual. The first songs she released such as the neotribute in tribute to Tim McGraw were a testament to her abilities. The second album Fearless from 2008 showed an songwriter discovering her voice and an even wider crowd. Fearless was able to have significant reach not just in the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles on the strength of the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well in Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. Speak Now delivered almost two years after that, and it consolidated the popularity and moved Swift up the ranks of superstardom. Swift gained popularity throughout the course of three subsequent albums, Red (2012) and 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017), and was firmly established within an industry she felt was hers to be. Even when she scaled back her approach with 2020's stripped-down twins release folklore and Evermore she was still atop the pop world a position that she maintained by rerecordings from the back catalogue, along with Midnights which was her top-charting synthesizer 2022 collection.
