She is the daughter of Harvey Welker a Native American father, and Julie Welker an African-American mother. Her mother is a real-estate agent, while her father has a degree in engineering. Her graduation from Germantown Friends School, located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in 1994. She then went on to Harvard College where she earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. Welker got married to John Hughes in Philadelphia, who was an acclaimed marketing director. They have two daughters. The couple began their relationship in the year 2014. John her husband is a year younger than her. Their relationship was developing so well that they took their relationship to a new level. On the 4th March 2017, they tied the knot. Philadelphia Pennsylvania was the location for their wedding. The wedding took place at the Hyatt. For the ceremony, only close relatives and guests were invited.
