Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his family as well as service to the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on the family farm near Eufala. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work in his college days. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's most outstanding young males. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame named him in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
