Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family service and involvement in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He is among the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won two national championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received a scholarship for the third season in 1975. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's top 10 young males. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He coached his university team in the year 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
