Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarships, family involvement and community involvement. The first line of his family was that his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the United States. During his three-year tenure as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975, and was designated an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth time of service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in the college. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and playing for the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youngsters in the US. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, Roy was a part of at the University of South Florida's sports department as assistant director. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
