Lee Roy Selmon's life is a combination of football scholarship, family work as well as community involvement. His first family is that his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised by Eufala by Lucious Selmon. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week while he attended college. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began his business career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youngsters in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the group. In 1993, he was a part of at the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. Parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
