The first album she recorded was in the same calendar year Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. She established her locally during high school but she dreamed of having a larger stage. After graduating high school in 1964, she went to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on his syndicated television show. Parton was appointed in the year 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. Her departure from the show came, but in 1974, because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached No. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
