Laura San Giacomo
San Giacomo made his television debut in 1987 with four episodes of three television shows. Two notable appearances were in Crime Story in 1988 for the episode "Protected Witness" (Season 2 Episode 13) as Theresa Fassino, as well as in Miami Vice in 1989 for the episode "Leap of Faith" (Season 5, Episode 21) as Tania Lewis. One year prior to their marriage, Cameron Dye, her potential husband, appeared as a guest in the Miami Vice episode. She had previously been a regular on All My Children, playing the character of Louisa Sanchez, a Latina common-law spouse to Mitch Beck, (Brian Fitzpatrick). Her appearance was seen as threatening to sever his relationship with Hillary Martin (Carmen Thomas). But, San Giacomo was first acknowledged as an actor in Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies and Videotape (1989). The film also marks her first appearance as an actor who is credited (her part in the role of Sandy in the film Miles from Home was not credited). The film was awarded an Golden Globe Award nomination and a Los Angeles Film Critics Association New Generation Award. The Cannes Film Festival's most prestigious Grand Prize (the Palme d'Or) was presented to the film. The film earned $178 million in box office revenues. In the Stephen King TV mini-series The Stand, she played Nadine Cross alongside Rob Lowe. They were included on the front cover of TV Guide's May 7-13, 1994 issue. She continued to make films through 1999.
